WP3 Insect detection, monitoring and spread

This WP will be carried out by the ARI, PHQCS, and TEIC.

  • Visually detect any damaged palm trees using the diagnostic protocol of the European Plant Protection Organization (EPPO).
  • Apply automatic techniques for the recognition of the bioacoustic signal of RPW and P. archon feeding activity.
  • Record all the potential host plants (and any alternative as well) and their approximate age.
  • Record all the areas where infested palm trees were found, using a GPS.
  • Conduct surveys all over Cyprus (Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca, Famagusta, Nicosia, semi- mountainous areas) to point the areas with the infested palm trees.
